Paperless Stocktake

The Paperless Stocktake module provides an efficient and accurate process for managing stocktakes. Stocktake sheets are downloaded to individual PDAs for counting and the counts are then uploaded back to Micronet.

Take some time to read the following two sections before you start processing your stocktake:

The best way to explain how Micronet Mobile Stocktake works is to study the timeline below.

Technical Information
  1. As stocktakes are assigned a status of "Paperless Queue", a file is created in the /PDA/stock directory. It is this file that is downloaded to the PDA, when Get Next Stocktake is selected.
  2. The PDA will create a new database on the PDA to process each paperless stocktake batch.
  3. Once the PDA finishes checking the stocktake, the stocktake.msa file in the \PDA\stock directory is updated with the details, and the stocktake is also deleted from this directory.
  4. It is the stocktake.msa file that Data.Connect uses to update Micronet with the required information.

Technical Tip

  • If you need to recreate the stocktake batch in the /PDA/stock directory, select the stocktake batch from the Warehouse Scheduler in Micronet and SET SELECTED TO PAPERLESS QUEUE then select FILE | PROCESS.
  • If a stocktake batch on a PDA becomes corrupt, you must manually delete the batch then change the status of the batch in question in the Warehouse Scheduler in Micronet and download again.
  • You can also re-send batches from the PDA (see "Mobile Stocktake - PDA Procedures" below).

Technical Tip

Ensure that you have configured Micronet, your hardware and the PDA users before trying to use Micronet Mobile Stocktake. For more information, refer to "Configuration".
